SOE Reveals Two Characters for DC Universe Online

Details Emerge for both The Green Arrow and The Green Lantern for Upcoming Cross-Platform MMO

Sony Online Entertainment has finally given us somewhat of an update on long in development DC Universe Online, the upcoming cross-platform MMO title for the PS3 and PC.  While we don’t have a release date to give out, we do have some details on two of the characters to be featured in the game.

Known by day as the mayor of Star City, Oliver Queen fights by night as The Green Arrow, an urban avenger fighting tirelessly for social justice, the working class and the disadvantaged.

Queen, who went from millionaire playboy to penniless political activist, became the world’s greatest archer after he was shipwrecked on a deserted island with only a bow. When he returned to his native Star City, he shed his playboy ways and focused on protecting the less fortunate. Taking advantage of his archery skills, Queen frequently invents trick arrows with various special functions, such as a glue arrow, net arrow, explosive arrow, time bomb arrow, grappling arrow, fire extinguishing arrow, flash arrow, tear gas arrow, cryonic arrow, a boxing-glove arrow and even a kryptonite arrow.

Queen is a respected member of the Justice League of America and frequently partners with The Green Lantern. His Rogues Gallery includes the illusion-casting Count Vertigo, enigmatic Onomatopoeia, Merlyn, Constantine Drakon, Deathstroke and the Brick.

Harold “Hal” Jordan already had the reputation as the most courageous test pilot alive when he was selected by a dying alien to take his place in an international peacekeeping force, Green Lantern Corps, agents of The Guardians of the Universe. When he accepted the alien’s ring and battery of power, Hal Jordan became a Green Lantern. With a ring whose powers are limited only by one’s imagination and willpower, Green Lantern defends both our world and space sector 2814.

The Green Lantern belongs to the Green Lantern Corps and is a founding member of the Justice League of America. One of many Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan frequently teams up with other Corps and JLA members to shine his light and battle the darkness of evil and chaos. His enemies include Sinestro, a former Green Lantern who is armed with a yellow power ring, and the alien parasite Parallax.

DC Universe Online for the PS3 and PC is being developed by Sony Online Entertainment in collaboration with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Currently no confirmed release date has been announced but rumor has it we should expect this sometime in 2010.
